Project Manager (Civil Construction)

Job Function:

This position will plan, direct, coordinate, or budget activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of renewable energy projects, primarily solar projects, but wind projects as well, with a focus on civil construction.

They will participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, implementation, and execution.

Job Description:

  • Work with EPC customers to provide budget and construction schedule to secure projects; Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, EPC contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with engineers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit weekly cost reports, track schedule milestones, and cost tracking reports.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, field personnel, clients, and key site personnel.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with ensuring the project will be completed on time and under budget.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site and prepare change orders to present to customer.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project.
  • Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Direct and supervise workers.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine the cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
  • Requisition of supplies and materials to complete construction projects; ability to work with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Generate, obtain, and forward client information and approval to Corporate Billing Supervisor.
  • Ability to negotiate pricing with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to travel 33% of the time.

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management with an emphasis in civil engineering/survey.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project/Construction Management or civil engineering (preferred)
